Who We Are
Coffee gathers people. Around the world, it’s more than just a drink—it’s a reason to pause, to connect, and to share a moment with others. At Liminal, we hope to expand on this timeless, almost sacred experience, creating a space where community, warmth, and connection can flourish.
For over a decade, since the early days of Lighthouse Mission Ministries, coffee has been served to the unhoused, forming bonds and creating community along the way. Each cup has been a symbol of comfort and care—not just from the coffee itself, but from the genuine hospitality shared in every interaction. Liminal has been the dream of so many for years, and now it has finally come to life. While continuing the tradition of serving coffee, we now open our doors to the entire community. Graduates of the Lighthouse recovery program serve alongside us, bridging gaps in social status and turning a simple cup of coffee into an opportunity for growth, skill-building, and independence.
Drinking coffee may seem ordinary, but at Liminal, it carries extraordinary meaning. Every cup is a chance to practice genuine hospitality, to support individuals in overcoming homelessness, and to build a space where everyone feels welcome, valued, and connected.
Our Mission
At Liminal, we believe in the power of hospitality to cultivate a space where community, healing, and growth can flourish. Over a cup of exceptional coffee, we create an environment that encourages connection, creativity, and opportunity.
Through our barista training program, we walk alongside individuals who have completed Lighthouse Mission Ministries’ recovery program, offering job training, mentorship, and practical skills that prepare them for independence and meaningful work. Rooted in hospitality and guided by faith, we are committed to serving our community while furthering Lighthouse’s commitment to healing homelessness through Christ’s love.
Opening February 2026 in downtown Bellingham, Liminal is a modern, cozy coffee shop inside the Lighthouse Mission building. It’s a space to enjoy great coffee, linger comfortably, and be part of a community built on restoration and belonging.
